Gun safety, politics, & perspective from a Libertarian leaning environmentalist. The purpose of this blog is to shed more light on the subject of safe & legal gun use in the USA with the aim of dispelling much of the fear that surrounds guns & gun ownership by those who are not familiar with firearms.

Switzerland and the gun

From my research about the Second Amendment, this is how our Founders would have liked the gun culture to evolve: no standing army; an armed and educated population; compulsory lifetime service to a "militia"; and, honestly, a largely homogeneous citizenry.

Indeed, Switzerland got it right.

The Founding Fathers were right that standing armies get used, either to fight foreign wars, or to impose tyranny over citizens.
